The vital factor is that the entire Game with Mum & Dad project is, from time to time, agreed upon, coordinated, then shared and made their own by the different institutional levels, i.e. the Ministry of Justice and the underlying structures, the Prison Administration, the local authorities, the prison director and officers. 4
GWMD’s journey starts with prison talk-cycles with children, person in prison, their families, to become a unique year long project and event, a memorable internal change factor for a prison and a powerful means of advocacy towards international/local institutions, decision makers, legislators and the media.
Playing is one of the most ‘free’ activities for a human being. Football can become a strong tool to stimulate and strengthen the bond between imprisoned parents and their children (both boys and girls).
The GWMD is a COPE and Bambinisenzasbarre’s initiative to be carried out inside European prisons in 2023-2024. It is proposed as a means to integrate prisons with civil society, envisioning it as a systemic project rather than merely a one-time event intended to provide temporary comfort to imprisoned parents and their children.
